Fruit Infused Water Recipes to Boost Your Hydration During the Heatwave

Fruit infused water jug refreshing for heatwave

The heatwave is (finally) here! If you live in the United Kingdom, you know this might be one of the few chances you have to enjoy hot, scorching temperatures – and complain about them to your friends and co-workers.

With the temperatures on the rise, it is normal to feel thirstier than usual and you should always make sure you do not neglect your body’s need for extra hydration. In fact, in summer and especially during heatwaves, it is recommended to drink more than the canonical 1.5 or 2 litres of water in order to avoid risking dehydration.

However, here is an unpopular opinion. Plain water can get boring after a while. Or you might start craving for something sweet and exciting, but healthier than sugary and fizzy drinks.

Fruit infused water is the best way to keep hydrated whilst adding colour and taste to your drink. Moreover, it is a great opportunity to get creative (bonus: fruit infused water pitchers and Mason jars are totally instagrammable).

You will be surprised to see how much room for experimenting a simple water recipe gives you. Use still or sparkling water, add ice or enjoy it cool, stick to one type of fruit per serving or try an exotic combination of several fruits – in other words, give your drink your own personal twist.

Here below, we have listed some of our favourite water recipes which are guaranteed to keep you freshly hydrated all summer long. So, go and grab some fruit, a jug or your reusable bottle, and let’s get hydrated!

Preparation fruit infused water with lemon, orange and blueberries

Lemon and lime

Zesty, citrusy and extremely refreshing, lemon and lime infused water is definitely a summer classic. This recipe is like a homemade lemonade stand, minus the sugar and, well, the stand.

Our recipe:

1 sliced lemon

1 sliced lime

Water

Ice (for extra refreshment)

Lemon and lime juice (optional)

Slice the lemon and lime finely and place in a jug or in your ReHydrate Pro. Add cold running water and, if you are looking for extra freshness, the ice cubes. Mix everything together. For an extra fresh touch, add the juice of a squeezed lemon and juice – et voilà!

Cucumber and mint

If you are looking for THE refreshing drink to pick yourself up after a long walk under the burning sun, then we have got the right recipe for you. Cucumber and mint infused water is the maximum freshness you can aspire to get on a summer day. Bonus: it will make you feel like you are at a spa day.

Our recipe:

1 finely sliced cucumber

Fresh mint (either chopped or whole)

Water

Ice (for extra refreshment)

Rinse the cucumber thoroughly. Peel the cucumber or slice it finely without peeling the skin off. Chop a branch of fresh mint or use leaves. Add all to a jug or your water bottle. Add cold running water and, if you are looking for extra freshness, the ice cubes. Mix everything together.

Blueberries and orange

Definitely one of our favourites of all time. It might sound like an unusual combination, but we invite you to try it. Make sure you do not leave the orange slices brewing for too long, as it might result in your water drink to be too bitter.

Our recipe:

1 cup of blueberries

1 sliced orange

Water

Ice (for extra refreshment)

Rinse a cup of fresh blueberries thoroughly. Slice an orange finely. Add all to a jug or your water bottle. Add cold running water and, if you are looking for extra freshness, the ice cubes. Mix everything together. Remove the orange slices.

Strawberry and Kiwi

Try our strawberry and kiwi water if you want to experience an explosion of flavour. This combination not only tastes good, but also smells amazing with the added bonus of being able to eat the strawberries once you’re done with your drink.

Our recipe:

1 cup of chopped strawberries

1 sliced kiwi

Water

Ice (for extra refreshment)

Chop or slice a cup of fresh strawberries. Peel and slice a kiwi finely. Add all to a jug or your water bottle. Add cold running water and, if you are looking for extra freshness, the ice cubes. Mix everything together being careful not to mush the fruit.

Watermelon

Has anybody said #beachvibes? With this watermelon infused water, you will project your mind directly to a sandy beach on a Spanish island.

Our recipe:

4/5 small, thin slices of a ripe watermelon

Water

Ice (for extra refreshment)

Slice some watermelon in thin triangles. Add all to a jug or your water bottle. Add cold running water and, if you are looking for extra freshness, the ice cubes. Mix everything together being careful not to mush the fruit. Serve cold with a colourful cocktail umbrella to increase your summer vibes.
