The dark evenings, cold weather and rainy days are upon us!

Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a motivated newbie just trying to get started, lack of motivation will hit you at some point or another.

First things first, don’t panic - It happens to the best of us!

Sometimes, life gets busy, the weather gets ugly, and the temptation to watch Netflix with a cup of hot cocoa instead of heading out for a run can be stronger than the will to work out.

If you’ve found yourself cosying up on the sofa rather than going for that 5-mile run here’s what you can do to get your mojo back!

  1. Set A Goal To Achieve By The End Of Winter
To help you stay focused, set a realistic target to achieve by the end of winter.
This could be anything from increasing your training speed or times, running your first marathon or just simply running regularly each week.
Measure yourself against this goal weekly so you can see signs of progress!

  1. Listen To Some Motivational Music
Listening to upbeat, feel good music can give you that push to get up, ready and out the door!
Top tip: Whilst your running try and keep up to the tempo of the music, this can often give you that extra push of motivation!

  1. Find A Running Buddy
A training partner will motivate you when you’re feeling sluggish and hold you accountable - you will both be less likely to miss a session if you have already made plans to go out running together.

  1. Go Shopping For New Running Gear

There’s something about wearing brand-spanking-new gear when we workout that makes us feel good doing it. If you bought some awesome new leggings, don’t you just want to wear them ASAP?

  1. Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself If You Miss A Session
If you do miss a running session, don't allow this to dampen your dedication and enthusiasm. Just get back into training and make sure it doesn’t become a habit, one missed session does not ruin your progress.
